Olympic roots. Five core values. Teaching kids to swim the right way—from the start. Gold Medal Swim School was founded by Olympian Mike Troy and Olympic Coach Mike Walker
Gold Medal Swim School was built on one simple belief: We do what is best for the kids, and everything else will follow.
With over 60 passionate teachers and 1,800 students each week, we live by our five Core Values—Safety, Relaxation, Air Regulation, Body Position, and Propulsion—to help every child swim with skill, confidence, and joy.
At Gold Medal Swim School, keeping your little swimmer safe and happy is our mission! We use the powerful DELL Ozone system—just like bottled water—to keep our pool crystal clear, filtering every 90 minutes and replacing the entire pool water every six days.
We don’t just meet safety standards—we crush them! With fresh air systems, special cleaning for those little oops moments, daily sanitizing between classes, and a pro cleaning team every night, we make sure everything stays spotless and safe.
Gold Medal Swim School is built on five essential Core Values: Safety, Air Regulation, Relaxation, Body Position, and Propulsion. These principles start in Baby Swim and guide students through Learn To Swim, Swim Team, and Adult lessons.
Â
Safety
We prioritize life-saving skills. Every class begins with our Gold Medal “Sit, Listen, and Wait” safety talk. Starfish students learn the Turnaround Survival Sequence, while Seahorse students master the Roll-to-Back survival skill.
Â
Air Regulation
Air Regulation means consistently exchanging air through the mouth—exhaling underwater by blowing bubbles and inhaling above water—without taking a double breath while the head is above water.
Â
Relaxation
Through water exploration and proper air regulation, swimmers build confidence and relaxation. A relaxed swimmer thinks quickly in emergencies, learns skills faster, and swims farther and faster.
Â
Body Position
A strong body position is the foundation for all strokes. Maintaining a tall, streamlined body reduces drag and positions swimmers to survive and swim at their best speed.
Â
Propulsion
Speed starts from the legs and grows as the other Core Values strengthen. Once mastered, arm movements are added to complete efficient propulsion.
