Baby Swim I

Building Comfort and Survival Skills

Ages: 3 – 36 months

Student-to-Instructor-Ratio: 6:1

Class Length: 30 minutes, 1x per week

Prerequisites: None

Upon level competition, swimmers will be able to:

  • Practice Sit, Listen, and Wait
  • Relaxed Body During Sways
  • Recognition of Verbal Cue for Breath Control
  • Relaxed, Independent Bench Play
  • Assisted Seated Dive
  • Assisted Turnaround Submersion

 

Parent/Guardian Participation Required

Class Description

Baby Swim is a gift to your child which will last a lifetime. This first introduction to the water is focused on relaxation, comfort, and enjoyment for the baby and parent alike. With guided instruction from our expert teachers, a foundation is created from which survival skills, stroke work, and lifelong swimming naturally follows.

Student Goals

Baby Swim I swimmers learn breath control, comfort putting their ears in the water, swimming above and below the water surface, and the basics of a survival jump.

Underwater Swimming and Increasing Independence

Ages: 3 – 36 months

Student-to-Instructor-Ratio: 6:1

Class Length: 30 minutes, 1x per week

Upon level competition, swimmers will be able to:

  • Practice Sit, Listen, and Wait
  • Self-submersion on Wall with Breath Control
  • Bench Ring Retrieval
  • Five Second Assisted Back Float
  • Independent Seated Dive
  • Turnaround Submersion on Wall

Class Description

Baby Swim II is a continuation of the Baby Swim I fundamentals with a greater emphasis on underwater swimming, survival skills, and increased independence.

Student Goals

Baby Swim II swimmers learn to place their heads underwater and pick up rings, independently swim to their parent partner, float and glide on their backs and tummies with assistance, and jump in and return to the wall on their own.
