Introduction  to Kicking Techniques & Breathe Control

Ages: 2 – 12 years

Upon level competition, swimmers will be able to:

  • Practice Sit, Listen, and Wait
  • Belly and Back Kicks with Body Position
  • Elementary Rotational Kicks
  • Elementary Backstroke
  • Multiple Relaxed Air Exchanges Underwater
  • Clothed Roll-to-Back Survival Jump

Class Description

Seahorse classes are all about kicking and the Core Value of Propulsion. The focus in on air regulation, correct body position, and maintaining proper relaxation during both belly and back kicking drills. As these techniques are practiced, Backstroke is introduced.

Student Goals

Seahorse swimmers learn proper technique for air regulation, kicking, head and body position during rolls, independently swim to the bottom of the pool, and elementary Backstroke. On graduation day, Seahorse students jump in the pool while wearing street clothes and shoes, roll to their back, and kick 30 feet across the pool!

Dolphin

Dolphin classes allow students to further their practice of the five Core Values as they progress in underwater swimming, achieve mastery in Backstroke, and develop competency in Freestyle. 

Student Goals

Dolphin swimmers learn Freestyle with a quick roll to the back for air, further their air regulation and propulsive skills in underwater swimming, and mastery of Backstroke.

Seal students swim multiple lags of Freestyle and Backstroke, learn the Butterfly kick (“wiggles”) with glide arms, and Breaststroke kick. Seal students are eligible for Summer Swim Team participation.

Mastering All Four Strokes

  • Air Regulation in all Four Strokes

Class Description

Stingray classes focus on continuous swimming of Freestyle and Backstroke and learning the proper timing of the full stroke and breath of Butterfly and Breaststroke. Stingray graduates are competent in all four strokes and ready for the challenge of Swim Team.

Student Goals

Stingray students learn to “circle swim” with continuous Freestyle and Backstroke. Proper breathing and timing of Butterfly and Breaststroke are practice, and somersaults are introduced as a precursor for flip turns. Stingray students are eligible for Summer Swim Team participation.

Swim Camp (Seasonal)

Equivalent of 2 Months of Swimming in One Week

Class Description

Available to all Learn To Swim levels, our Swim Camps are offered seasonally and are designed to help kids achieve their next level of swimming with a focused week of extended time in the water.

Swim Camp lessons follow our Learn To Swim curriculum and enable a deeper absorption of the Gold Medal Swim School Core Values. Students get the same time and same teacher for 60 minutes, each day for four consecutive weekdays. Families can pick and choose which weeks they want to do – perfect for scheduling around family vacations.

Whether your goal is for your swimmer to reach a new place in their swimming skills or give your swimmer an awesome physical activity for an hour each day, two months’ worth of lessons in one week will help your goals be reached. Your student will receive a medal and a Certificate of Completion on the last day of their Swim Camp!

Swim Camps are designed for students age 2 years and 12 years; no swimming experience is required to enroll. Swim Camps consist of 60-minute classes over four consecutive days, Monday through Thursday. 

We offer a 3:1 student to instructor ratio for Starfish and Seahorse and a 4:1 student to instructor ratio for Dolphin, Seal, and Stingray.

Stingray students learn to “circle swim” with continuous Freestyle and Backstroke. Proper breathing and timing of Butterfly and Breaststroke are practice, and somersaults are introduced as a precursor for flip turns. Stingray students are eligible for Summer Swim Team participation.

Class Description

Available to all Learn To Swim levels, our Swim Camps are offered seasonally and are designed to help kids achieve their next level of swimming with a focused week of extended time in the water.

Swim Camp lessons follow our Learn To Swim curriculum and enable a deeper absorption of the Gold Medal Swim School Core Values. Students get the same time and same teacher for 60 minutes, each day for four consecutive weekdays. Families can pick and choose which weeks they want to do – perfect for scheduling around family vacations.

Whether your goal is for your swimmer to reach a new place in their swimming skills or give your swimmer an awesome physical activity for an hour each day, two months’ worth of lessons in one week will help your goals be reached. Your student will receive a medal and a Certificate of Completion on the last day of their Swim Camp!

Swim Camps are designed for students age 2 years and 12 years; no swimming experience is required to enroll. Swim Camps consist of 60-minute classes over four consecutive days, Monday through Thursday. 

We offer a 3:1 student to instructor ratio for Starfish and Seahorse and a 4:1 student to instructor ratio for Dolphin, Seal, and Stingray.
