Introduction to Competitive Swimming and Team Success

 

Ages: 5+ Years

Location: Indoors at GMSS

Class Length: 60 minutes, 1x per week

Prerequisites: Stingray graduate; Must be able to accurately swim all four strokes: Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle

Class Description

Swim Team 1 works to develop the total swimmer through focused practice of proper swim technique, good training habits, and character development within the framework of a team environment. Stroke technique remains the focus, but greater emphasis is placed on endurance and training for its health, fitness, and competitive benefits. Swimmers benefit from a supportive environment, small ratios, and in-water coaching.

Student Goals

Instructors actively work in the water with students to refine stroke technique and create a playful environment, balancing the introduction to competitive swimming. While increasing yardage and endurance, the focus at this level continues to be on the quality of swimming. Swim distances are based on 25 and 50 yard increments.

The Gold Medal Swim School Swim Team Outdoor group is geared towards our more passionate and motivated swimmers who want the same high-level commitment to technique and a positive environment while increasing the intensity and focus on racing FAST. The main goal of the Summer Swim Team program is for your swimmer to fall in love with racing and catch a glimpse of what Swim Team is all about! Strong strokes will develop over time as racing confidence grows with experience gained from each swim meet and time trial. We invite you to a FUN and exciting summer of swimming opportunities for your student!

Summer Swim Team

Summer Swim Team is a six-week program geared towards introducing our Learn To Swim swimmers to the competitive side of swimming. This involves swimming the full length of the pool (25 yards), practicing swimming etiquette, and participating in fun, swim meet competitions! Each week, our coaches will focus on a particular swimming stroke while making each practice FUN for the team! Participants in Summer Swim Team can join in on the Kick-off BBQ, Swim Meets, Start Clinic, and Summer Swim end-of-season Celebration!

Swim Team Camp

Swim Team Camp is a two-week program (offered in three sessions!) designed to give swimmers a chance to experience Swim Team in a two-week increment, perfect for families who are unable to commit to the full summer. Swimmers will swim the full length of the pool while focusing on Swim Team etiquette and racing experiences. Participants in Swim Team Camp can join in on the Kick-off BBQ, the Swim Meet at the end of their camp, the Start Clinic, and the Summer Swim end-of-season Celebration – ensuring they don’t miss out on the competition and FUN!
