Gold Medal Swim School highly encourages swim meet participation. We believe that early in swimmers’ careers they should find joy and success in each meet they attend. While ribbons will be awarded at many of these meets, we also encourage swimmers to view their times and stroke techniques as measures of accomplishment.

We have found that the amount of success a swimmer feels at an event directly correlates to his or her desire to attend future meets. This is why we encourage both parents and coaches to help their swimmers realize victories in more ways than one.

Gold Medal owner Mike Walker always says, “You will race like you practice.” Gold Medal’s goal is to build confidence through improvement at both swim meets and swim workouts. As such, coaches look to make constructive corrections during each workout, so in effect swim meets become like “swim quizzes.” We want these meets to be a time for which the swimmer cannot wait to attend and “take the quiz”!
